This page on the site I will focus on another passion of mine. Having a keen interest in photography, taking photos of pubs just wasn't doing it for me. My curiosity to be able to fully utilise a digital cameras functions, made me decide to sign up for various courses to help me understand the genres full potential.
I try whenever I can, to have a camera on my person. Since having a mental meltdown, or perhaps it was a mid life crisis, I became aware that I didn't have a hobby, to clear my mind from my day job. If you read my introduction page, you would have discovered that I trained as a professional chef. This I really enjoyed to begin with, at it is highly skilled, with so much to learn, skills to master, & taste buds to titillate. I was living, breathing, & sleeping cooking. Therefore, when I was off work with a breakdown, from having to juggle too many pots & pans, I had no hobby, or interest so help me relax, as my life was dominated by being a chef. Perhaps it was a turning of a new page for me, as I was all over the place mentally, my mind was constantly active, never properly switching off. I decided to get my self a digital camera, as they had recently come onto the market, I started with a Canon Sureshot, I thought it would be best to start off with something not too complicated, & priced to suit my budget. The reason for this is that the hobby I chose can to my dismay can work out to be rather expensive, especially if you try to keep up with the latest equipment. Another reason, was the fact I didn't want to splash out to the top of the range, all singing & dancing camera, as I may not have been inclined to have the will, or desire to use it, just leaving it sitting in the bottom of a cupboard gathering dust.
I can remember whilst recuperating, to help me regain some focus, I decided to go to Earls Court, where a motorbike show was taking place. Of course I took the camera, I throughly enjoyed my day out in the big wide world. It seems strange as like now, if I have anything playing on my mind when I am out & about, deciding who I will capture with the camera, I become completely engrossed into what I am doing. It seems my mind, eyes & camera become entangled into capturing the desired image. Of course this sometimes isn't the case. I call this photography fishing, especially when the thought of getting that desired shot turns out to be blurred & out of focus, that was the one that got away. Then on the other hand everything falls in alignment to get a shot you are happy with. I have been on numerous photo walks, with amazing people who are all different stages of their photography journey. Most just enjoy doing photography as a hobby, whilst others are on a completely different level, getting the most spectacular pictures you could ever imagine. I do try to aspire to their standard of photography, but I am happy at the moment, as at this moment in time I would like to share with you some of the pictures, & genres of photography that I have dabbled in over the past 10 years or so.
This is just a taster of my time behind the camera. Due to the fact I like all things historical, wildlife, architecture I find it very advantageous when I compile a page to show you I have enjoyed doing the ground work to photograph place I find of interest to you all.
I have to admit that due to circumstances amidst the current Covid restriction I haven't had the desire to put 100% into doing any photography. Looking forward to getting out there again. Take care enjoy the festive season regards passion4pubs.
